Frequently asked questions
- What does OCR actually do?
- Optical Character Recognition reads the shapes of letters in scanned images and turns them into real text you can search, select and copy.
- How accurate is the recognition?
- On clean 300 DPI scans of printed text, accuracy is typically excellent. Faded print, skewed pages and handwriting reduce accuracy.
- What do I get back after OCR?
- Your choice: a searchable PDF with an invisible text layer over the original scan, or a plain text file of everything recognised.
- Which languages are supported?
- English works out of the box, with major European languages selectable before processing.
- Are my scanned documents stored?
- No. Recognition runs in memory and your scans are purged as soon as the result is delivered.
